In 1910, Alta worked as a stenographer in an office. In 1920, she was working as a bookkeeper and stenographer for a lumber company in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. She was working as a stenographer in Kansas City in 1930 also. Her death certificate recorded her occupation as office secretary for Long Bell Lumber Co. She had lived in Kansas City, Missouri, for 35 years.
