  General Notes:

At the time of the 1910 and 1920 census, Walter was paying a mortgage to own his farm in Mills County, Texas. It was listed as a general farm. By the time of the 1930 census, he owned his farm in Mills County, Texas. He was working it as a stock farm.

Notes from Wanda Sparkman:
Thomas James Sparkman states, when he was a young boy (born 1937) his grandparents lived in the country. You could not drive to their house. You got out and walked under a railroad bridge. He states his grandfather smoked a pipe and was almost blind.

We, James and I had the great fortune of having Granny Tennie live with us for a little while after we first got married in Raymondville, Texas. James' father was a Baptist Minister and pastured the First Baptist Church in Raymondville, starting in March 1954. James went into the Army in 1956 and stayed until Feb 1959. We moved back to the farm outside of DeLeon, Comanche County, Texas, and Granny again stayed a lot with us. Granny helped James and I plant our first garden. It was so pretty and everything was about an inch high. We had a hale storm and it beat everything down. That was our first and last garden. We would take Granny to outside of Abilene to visit her brother. I do not know which one it was and then we would take her to Stephenville to visit her sister.

Walter's last residence was Crawford, McLennan County, Texas. He was a farmer. 1
