Center City - Merle Davis Owens, 85, died on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Visitation Friday, December 28, 5-7PM at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Service Saturday, December 29, 10:30AM, at Stacy-Wilkins Chapel in Goldthwaite. Interment at Owens Ranch Family Cemetery in Center City.

Goldthwaite--Services for Merle Davis Owens, 85, of Center City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Burial will follow at the Owens Ranch Family Cemetery in Center City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at the funeral home.

He passed away Dec. 22, 2018.

He was born Nov. 26, 1933 in Center City to James Sherwood Owens and Lois Venable Owens. He married Virginia Gail McNiel in June 1952.

Survivors include daughters and spouses, Vickye and Mike Drury of Center City, and Beth and Paul Ising of Star; sons and spouses, Lee and Paula Owens of Center City, and Ray and Susan Owens of Center City; grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Janice Drury, Rocky and Christa Jones, Matthew and Laura Presley, Bonnie Ising, William and Elizabeth Owens, Majlinda Owens, Anne-Marie Owens; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Drury, Logan Drury, Delaney Owens, Ava Owens, William Owens Jr., and Mila Owens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers; and one sister. ^{3 4}

Merle married Virginia Gail McNiel, daughter of Herman Clay McNiel and Margaret Imogene Beard, in Jun 1952. (Virginia Gail McNiel was born on 6 Aug 1934 in , Mills County, Texas,⁵ died on 28 Feb 2007 and was buried in Owens Ranch Cemetery, Mills County, Texas.)
