His sister Evaline, and widowed sister Margaret and her children lived with him. He was a farmer. At the time of the 1900 census, James was married to Lillie and had 2 infants with her. He was farming in Mills County, Texas. His brother in law James Nichols was living with them. At the time of the 1910 census, James was farming in Mills County. He owned his farm free of mortgage. His widowed mother in law Mahaley Nichols was living with them. Son, Artclar (or R. Teckler) was living right beside them.

The cause of her death was perforation of ileum with peritonitis, mesenteric thrombosis.
