Lillie's parents were Barney Nichols, born in Tennessee, and Lucille Mahaley, according to her death certificate. The information given for her and her brother James's parents on the 1900 census was Texas for the parents. Her parent's names are shown as Jonithan Barnabas Nichols and Mahala Anaste Morgan, both born in Texas, on the Wasson, Westcott, Wilson et al Ancestry.com Member tree. By the time of the 1900 census, she had borne 3 children with 2 still living. She had 5 more children by 1910. At the time of the 1910 census, her widowed mother, Mahaley Nichols, was living with them. Lillie was listed as head of household and farming in Mills County, Texas, at the time of the 1920 census. Mrs. O. W. Kuykendall was the informant on the death certificate.

Mrs. James Miles Died at Age 77, Funeral Sunday
Funeral services were conducted last Sunday afternoon at the Center City Baptist Church for Mrs. James S. Miles, the former Lillie Catherine Nichols, who died in Fort Worth last week. Final rites were conducted by the Rev. J. T. Ayers, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite, who was assisted by the Rev. Virgil Sparkman, Pastor of the Baptist Church at Center City.

Interment was in the Center City Cemetery. ⁷
