  General Notes:

She was listed as 4 on the 1870 census and as 12 on the 1880 census. In 1900 US Census, she gave place of birth of father as US and mother as Maryland. In 1910 and 1920 US Census, she gave place of birth of both parents as Maryland.

She was on the committee of the Ladies' Educational Society of Rifle creek in 1901 and helped draft a resolution consoling the Alfred George family on the loss of their daughter Annie. (Her future daughter in law was Annie's sister and only 7 years old at the time.) In 1902, she and Herbert went east for an extended visit returning in October. She was superintendent of the new Sunday school at the Heator school house in upper Rifle creek in 1903.

Obituary of Mrs. Brosius
Mary Lowina Thomas, daughter of George B. and Eppa Thomas, was born on October 7th, 1867 at Gallitin, Mo.

Here she grew up to young womanhood and on Jun 28th, 1891, was united in marriage to John E. Brosius. Later them (sic) came to Aspen, Colorado, to make their home and the first 8 years or more of their wedded life was lived there.

Two children were born at Aspen, a son and a daughter. The daughter died in infancy and the son John Herbert Brosius lives on the home ranch on Riflle creek.

It was in the fall of 1899 that Mr. and Mrs. Brosius and children moved from Aspen to the ranch on Rifle creek, near Rifle, Colo., and it was there that Mrs. Brosius, after a brief illness, departed this life on the morning of May 31, 1928, at the age of 60 years, 7 months, 24 days.

When the word of Mrs. Brosius' illness spread throughout the community it was not generally realized that her condition was serious, but the many friends who daily made enquiries were soon convinced that she would have to fight a real battle for life. Her vitality having been lowered by a recent attack of the "flu" she was not physically able to combat the ravages of pneumonia which caused her death, and gave up the fight on the date just mentioned.

Her sudden death brought a real shock to the community and especially to many who did not know of her serious condition.

Her bereaver (sic) husband and son and daughter-in-law and many other relatives and friends have the deepest sympathy of the community in this hour of sad bereavement.

Mrs. Brosius had been a member of the Methodist church since a young girl, and was always loyal to it. We trust she now helps to constitute the Church Triumphant which is without a fault before the throne of God.

She was also a member of Mariposa Circle No. 82 and an active member of the Farmers Union.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday, June 3 at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. L. A. Ford. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Card of Thanks
We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy during out recent bereavement. Also for the beautiful flowers.
