The 1880 census showed that Lewis Jr worked on the farm. At the time of the 1900 census, Lewis was a stock farmer. He owned his farm in Coryell County, Texas, free of any mortgage. By the time of the 1910 census, the family had moved to Sterling County, Texas. Lewis was listed as a stock farmer who owned his farm free of any mortgage. He was listed the same in the 1920 census, except there he was shown to be paying a mortgage.
