Rudolph Axel Magnuson, 88, of New Sweden, passed away, suddenly in his garden on Wednesday, July 29, 1998.
Rudolph was born on March 25, 1910 in the Carlson Community. He married Margaret Magnuson in 1939.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan; his parents Lilly and Swen Magnuson; and six brothers.
He was a loving and compassionate father and grandfather whose humerous stories and practical jokes that will long be remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Magnuson of New Sweden; daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Stan Hartmann, of New Sweden; granddaughters and their husbands, Karen and Bill McManus, Kendra and John Silvus; and grandson, Chris Hartmann, of Austin. He is also survived by two brothers, Edwin Magnuson of New Sweden and Hartwin Magnuson of Manda; five sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rudolph was a member of New Sweden Lutheran Church and the Scandinavian Club of Austin. He had also served as a director of Travis County Farm Bureau for 26 years and the New Sweden Church Council for numerous years.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with prayer services at 7:00 p.m. at the Elgin Funerala Home on Friday, July 31, 1998. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday August 1, 1998 at the New Sweden Lutheran Church at New Sweden. Interment will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
