George was listed as head of household in the 1860 census with his brothers and sisters in Marshall County, Mississippi. He was a farmer with real estate valued at $1000 and $400 in personal assets. A German born school teacher named Thomas Norris lived with them.

He served in the 17th Mississippi Infantry Co. D Rough and Readies. He was mustered into state service at Corinth, Tishomingo County, May 27, 1861 from Pontotoc County. He served as a private.

The place where he died is now Hart, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.
