Ruby Dell McCasland ¹

Ruby Dell McCasland Harper was born September 16, 1926, daughter of Samuel Martin McCasland and Stella Venable McCasland. She passed away on October 29, 2014.

She atended Star High School until January 18, 1943, when she and Peter Harper eloped. They shared 70 plus years together, farming and ranching in Mills County. Ruby Dell was a faithful member of Star Baptist Church. She took great pride in her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruby Dell is survived by son, Karry and wife Sheryll Harper of Star, daughter Marsha and husband Lynn Elliott of College Station; grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Bobby Soules of Goldthwaite and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harmon McCasland and wife Maxine, Homer McCasland and wives Mary Soules McCasland and Rose Lee Sheldon McCasland, sisters Wilma McCasland and husband Aaron, Sammie McConnell and husband Sam, brother-in-law Ward Soules.

Ruby Dell's special caregiver Jovita Perales will always be remembered for her love and dedication to our mother and family.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Hillview Manor Retirement home in Goldthwaite.

Ruby married Bonnie Leroy Harper, son of Presley O'Keith Harper and Martha Edna Beshears, on 18 Jan 1943. (Bonnie Leroy Harper was born on 4 Dec 1924 in , Mills County, Texas,³ died on 2 Sep 2013 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas and was buried on 4 Sep 2013 in Hurst Ranch Cemetery, Hamilton County, Texas.)
