His planned departure date from New York City was 20 Mar 1921. G. B. Franklin, an architect in Kansas City, vouched for him. He said he had known Thomas for 3 years.

At the time of the 1930 census, Thomas was a general architect living in Highland Park, Dallas County, Texas. He owned his home valued at $18,000. His mother in law, Minna L. Kirkpatrick, was listed with the family. Social Security had his last benefit and last residence as Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.
