His parents were born in Kentucky. At the time of the 1860 census, Ebenezer was a lawyer in Lamar County, Texas. He was boarding with William Bramblett's family. He had real estate valued at $400 and personal assets of $200. In Jan 1861 he enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant in Company H, 9th Texas Cavalry. He was promoted to the rank of Captain. At the time of the 1870 census, Ebenezer was a state senator. He lived in Lamar County, Texas. He had real estate valued at $10,000 and personal assets of $1000. A black woman, Martha Ingrum 16, was the cook. He was a member of the Texas constitutional convention. At the time of the 1880 census, Ebenezer was an attorney at law in Paris. There was a boarder, George Kemp 40, in the household. At the time of the 1900 census, Ebenezer was a real estate agent. He owned his home free of mortgage in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. At the time of the 1910 census, Ebenezer was widowed. He lived in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, with his sons Alfred, Frank and daughter Nellie. He owned his home.
