Virginia Owens McCasland of Center City, Texas passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Creedmoor, Texas. She was 83 years of age.

Virginia was born March 8, 1929 in Mills County, Texas to James Sherwood Owens and Lois Venable Owens. She married Elroy McCasland on February 22, 1948 in Mills County, Texas. They lived in several places Virginia Owens McCasland until 1977 when they moved to Center City, Texas and lived there until 2005 when they moved to Creedmoor, Texas. She was affiliated with Center City Methodist Church and made her living as a teacher. Virginia attended the University of Texas until marriage, finished her Bachelor's Degree at Eastern New Mexico University, received Master of Education with specialization in reading from Texas Woman's University. She was a lay delegate to the Annual Southwest Conference of United Methodist Church and member of Classroom Teacher's Association and International Reading Association.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home, Goldthwaite, Texas.

Services are scheduled for Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Center City United Methodist Church, Center City, Texas. Max Brennan, Lowell Dean Skaggs and Laura Green will officiate.

Interment will follow at Center City Cemetery, Center City, Texas.

Pallbearers will include Mark Adams, Darrell Adams, Patrick Mullin, Katherine Mullin and Roy Mullin.

Survivors include children and spouses Loretta Adams and Jackie, Center City, Texas; James McCasland and Margaret Maimone, Tully, New York, Roy McCasland, Errol, Scotland, Diana Mullin & Roy, Elgin, Texas; grandchildren Darrell and Mark Adams, Connor and Kellen McCasland, Katherine and Patrick Mullin; brothers John Howard Owens, Benbrook, Texas and Davis Owens, Center City, Texas; and eighteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sherwood and Lois Owens; husband Elroy McCasland; grandson Reece McCasland; and brothers James Owens and Sam Owens. ⁴

Lucy married Elroy McCasland, son of Stacy Pike McCasland and Verdie Ola Reid, on 22 Feb 1948 in , Mills County, Texas.
