Emma was listed as part of a large family in Williamson County, Texas, on the 1910 census. Her parents were Herman Ulbrich and Johanna Louise Weise, who came to America from Germany in 1882 and were naturalized citizens. The entire family was German speaking. The nine children still at home were all born in Texas. Most of them were laborers on the home farm.

The cause of his death was empyema due to pneumonia.2
