By the time of the 1910 census, Johanna had borne 4 children with 3 still living. At the time of the 1920 census, Johanna was widowed. She was farming in Blanco County, Texas, with Leo, 22, (listed as a son and as a Krause, but not on any previous census with them), and Bertha, Rinhart, and Alvina. Her property was between that of Frederick Sultemeier and Adolph Sultemeier who were the right age to be her brothers. She lived in Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, Texas, 6 years prior to her death. Benno Weiss was the informant on her death certificate.

The cause of his death was valvular trouble of heart, pneumonia.³
