At the time of the 1910 census, Luther was a census enumerator. He was paying a mortgage to own his home in Mills County, Texas. When Luther registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was working for George Rivear in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas, as a tall dresser (?). His wife Mattie E. Booker was listed as his nearest relative. Social Security had his last residence as Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. At the time of the 1920 census, Luther was city marshall. He owned his home in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas, free of mortgage. His death certificate showed his occupation as retired vacuum cleaner salesman. His son, James W. Booker, was the informant.

Luther married Martha Eugenia Morgan, daughter of William H. The cause of her death was arteriosclerosis. She had also suffered a fracture of her left hip..8
