COMANCHE — Funeral services for George Wayne Ellis, 80, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Democrat Cemetery in Mills County. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Lunch for the family will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Pearl Street Church of Christ.
He died Friday, July 12, 2013, in home Comanche County.
He was born April 23, 1933, in Mills County, to Earl E. and Katherine (Hill) Ellis. On April 15, 1965, he was married to Barbara Harris in Gustine. He was a school teacher and coach in the Texas School System and was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Pearl Street Church of Christ in Comanche.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Comanche; sons, Earl Ellis and wife Robin of Comanche, and Gary Ellis of Keller; daughter, Kerri Brinkley and husband Chris of Conway, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
George married Doris Yvonne Burkett, daughter of L. A. Burkett and O. N. Johnston.
George next married Barbara Nell Harris, daughter of Monroe Jefferson Harris and Patsy Nell Hambrick.
