Jean Turlington, 1924-2005

Memorial service for Kathryn Jean Brown Turlington, 81, of Mineola was to be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the First Christian Church in Mineola. The Rev. James Tingle was to officiate with the assistance of Father Thomas A. Pantle.

Turlington died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, in Tyler.

She was born May 4, 1924, in Longview to the John Garland Brown and Hazel Kirk Barr Brown. A Mineola resident most of her life, she was also a member of the First Christian Church of Mineola. Turlington worked as a bookkeeper for First State Bank of Hawkins and was a 1941 graduate of Mineola High School.

She is survived by three sons, James David Turlington of Tucson, Ariz., Joe Edd Turlington of Decatur, and Jon Kirk Turlington of Mineola; two daughters, Jeanne Greenawalt of Mineola and Linda Phelps of Arlington; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 209 N. Pacific, Mineola, Texas 75773.

Social Security had her last residence as Mineola, Wood County, Texas. Her last benefit address was Mabank, Kaufman County, Texas.

Kathryn married George Leslie Eddins.

Kathryn next married Wilbur David Turlington.
