At the time of the 1900 census, August was a farmer in Travis County, Texas. He owned his farm free of any mortgage. He gave his birth date as Dec 1879 age 30 and listed that he immigrated to America in 1871. He reported that he had been married 7 years. He was listed on the same page as several of his wife's families.

At the time of the 1910 census, August was still farming in Travis County. He owned his farm free of any mortgage. He gave his age as 43 and listed that he had been married 15 years. He reported an immigration date of 1871 and that he was a naturalized citizen on the 1910 and 1920 census.

By 1920 the family had moved into Burnet County, Texas. There he owned his home free of mortgage and farmed a general farm. He was shown as 55 years old. He continued to farm in Burnet County at the time of the 1930 census. His age was listed as 64 and the correct immigration date of 1870 was shown.His grandson Quentin 6 was listed with the family.
