One online genealogy showed that he died in California and was buried in Ceres, California. I couldn't find the grave searching FindAGrave.com and the California Death Index only goes back to 1940. There was a Pinckney Decatur Ward registered to vote in Ceres, California, in the early 1900's.
At the time of the 1900 census, he was living with his father and siblings in Benton County, Mississippi. He was a farmer and rented his farm. His birth date was shown as Oct 1877. When Decator registered for the WWI draft, he was a farmer in Ceres, Stanislaus County, California. He listed his wife Onie L. Ward as his nearest relative. His birth date was shown as 16 Oct 1876.
