They settled in Texas originally then later in Oklahoma, Texas, and California. At the time of the 1900 census, Emil was farming a rented farm in Fayette County, Texas. The birth date given was Feb 1875. He was still farming a general farm in Fayette County, Texas, in 1910. He owned his farm free of any mortgage. When Emil registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was farming for himself in Winchester, Fayette County, Texas. He gave his birth date as 6 Feb 1875. He was a citizen due to his father's naturalization. His wife was his nearest relative. At the time of the 1920 census, he was still farming in Fayette County, Texas.
