Benjamin graduated from Yale College in 1709, and became pastor of the First Congregational Church, Southold, Long Island from 1720-1736. After preaching in several different places before this. In 1710 he married a daughter of the Rev. William Urquhart of Oyster Bay, Long Island. She died in 1712. He married #2 Abigail Taylor in 1714. She was born in 1695 daughter of John and Mary (Whitehead) Taylor of Oyster Bay, Long Island and died in 1771, in Stamford, CT. On her father's death in 1735 she inherited her father's 300 acre estate in Glen Cove, Long Island which Rev. Benjamin called Dosoris (from dosuxoris or wife's dowry). They lived there from 1736 until his death. They had two sons, Malcom Taylor and Benjamin Jr. and four daughters Abigale who married Rev. Noah Wells of Stamford; Sarah who married her brother's brother in law, John Lloyd; Mary who married Platt "Bull" Smith and #2 Dr. George Muirson; and Theodosia who died at age 15.
None of George and Hanna's children birth dates are known, hence the order of birth is also not known.
Benjamin married Urquhart in 1710. (Urquhart was born about 1692 1.)
