John was a Mason. He was a 50 year member and past Master of Knob Creek Lodge #401, Temple, Texas. He was also a member of Knights Templar Commandry, Scottish Rite, and Past Patron of Temple Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. He served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 48th Masonic District in 1982. He was a faithful member of Oak Park Methodist Church, Temple, Texas. His favorite hobby was spending summers camping in Colorado.
