  General Notes:

At the time of the 1900 census, Clyde was living with his parents, Philander Frank Benedict and Laura E. Roberts, and siblings, Fred W., Mary Inez, and Laura G. (his twin) in New Sharon Town, Mahaska County, Iowa. His father was born in Ohio, His mother in Indiana, and the two older children in Iowa. His father was a traveling paint salesman.

At the time of the 1910 census, Clyde and Elsie were living in Kiowa County, Colorado, where he farmed beside his father and mother. When he registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was farming in Eads, Kiowa County, Colorado.

At the time of the 1920 census, they were living in Galetea, Kiowa County, Colorado. Clyde was paying a mortgage to own his home. He was a general farmer. His father's birth place was given as Ohio, his mother's as Indiana. There were two daughters, Bonnie and Dorothy. At the time of the 1930 census, Clyde and Elsie were living in Eads, Kiowa County, Colorado, where he worked as a 31-6 enumerator. He rented his home for $25 a month. Bonnie was not listed with the family, but Dorothy and a new daughter Margaret are. Clyde's parents were shown as born in Ohio.

Clyde married Elsie Bessie Belle Sherman, daughter of Frederick Samuel Sherman and Mary Isabelle Rogers, on 17 Nov 1908 in Haysville, Sedgwick County, Kansas. (Elsie Bessie Belle Sherman was born on 14 Mar 1887 in Cuba, Republic County, Kansas,7 9 died on 16 Jun 1971 in Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado 7 9 and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rifle, Garfield County, Colorado 10.)
