Swedish emigration records show Oscar's place of origin as Lekeryd, Jönköpings län, Sweden.

Oscar first arrived in America from Tofrida Kronogård, Lekeryd on 1 Oct 1899 on the Campania. He returned to Sweden and came back to America 30 Aug 1905 on the Caronia with his future wife Anna Peterson and her sister. Oscar was naturalized 27 Jan 1908 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. At the time of the 1910 census, Oscar was farming a rented farm in Bastrop County, Texas. The family went back to Jonkoping, Sweden where son Richard was born 25 Apr 1914 and returned 9 Aug 1916 (from Boarp Rusthåll, Barkeryd) on the Oscar II with nephew and future son in law Einar Magnuson. When Oscar registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was a self-employed farmer in Bastrop County, Texas. Mailing Address Elgin, Texas. On the 1920 census in Bastrop County, Texas, he indicated that he was paying a mortgage to own his farm. Their farm was in Lund, Travis County, Texas, according to the 1921 passport applications. Their last visit to Sweden began 28 Nov 1921. The family was recorded in Sweden Household Examination Books at Häljaryd, Rogberga, Jõnkõpings, Småland, Sweden. Oscar was with wife Anna, and children Lillian, Ella and Richard. They left Häljard on 19 Dec 1922 and returned to America from Häljaryd Uppegård, Rogberga 9 Jan 1923 on the Drottningholm. All these voyages arrived in New York City, New York. By the time of the 1930 census, the family had settled in Travis County, Texas. Oscar and Anna are listed there with youngest daughter Elizabeth who was born in Travis County in 1926. Oscar owned his home valued at $3000 and was farming cotton. They remained on their farm near Lund, Travis County, Texas through the 1940 census.
