One day while Judge Leroy Box was presiding in his courtroom he received some alarming news about his son Albert E. Box. In a note from his wife Sarah, it stated that their son was seriously ill. Judge Box rushed to the bedside of his son in their home immediately. Albert, a college student at the University of Alabama in St. Clair Co.,died several days later of malaria at the age of 18.
