Mr. Norman Dean Doggett was born December 21, 1928, in Nolan County, Texas, the son of Jeff J. Doggett and Allie Taylor Doggett. He was drafted into the Army, serving in Korean War, being stationed in Japan. He returned home in Late December 1952. He married Gypsy Smith on June 12, 1952. Dean managed W.F. and J.F Barnes Lumber Co. Their only child Jeffery Elizabeth was born in Hamilton. Dean went on to work at Perry National Bank in Hamilton and in 1976 he and Gypsy and the family moved to Austin where he remained in the financial industry until his retirement from the DPS Credit Union as President. He received his certification of credit union management from the University of Houston CUNA School of Management. Funeral services for Dean Doggett will be held on Monday, January 26, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at the 1st St. Church of Christ, with George McCall and Kevin Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church building 1 hour prior to the service. Survivors include wife, Gypsy Ann Doggett of Lampasas; daughter, Jeffery Hillis and husband, Bruce of Farmers Branch, Texas; grandson, Nathan Hillis of Farmer.; two brothers, Lester Doggett and wife, Elva of Lake Worth, Alvin Doggett and wife, Gertrude of Haltom City; sister, Golda Burns of Hewitt; sister-in-law, Geniva Doggett of Kempner; and brother-in-law, Buster Smith and wife, Fay of Cincinnati, Ohio; and by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
