Mr. Doggett
Funeral services for Sherman Avner Doggett, 64, of Lampasas were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox chapel with Ministers Roland McLean, Tim Atchison and Vonnie Tucker officiating. Interment followed in Watson Cemetery.
Mr. Doggett died Sunday in Santa Fe Center in Temple.
He was born March 20, 1924, in Nolan County and had been a resident of Lampasas County since 1941. He was married to Dorothy Smedley on June 18, 1948, in Lampasas.
Mr. Doggett was a retired employee of the U.S. Civil Service at Fort Hood, a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Marines, and he served as elder of the Broad Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Doggett of Lampasas; and his family by choice, Kay McCann of Lampasas, Joyce Birkelback of Giddings and Judy Felan of San Antonio; six brothers, W.C. Doggett of Pecos, Roy Doggett of Lampasas, Lester Doggett and Alvin Doggett of Austin; and five grandchildren by choice.
Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements.
