Lester Doggett, 90, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Westworth Church of Christ. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, make contributions to Mission Hospice.
Lester was born May 4, 1922, in San Saba County, to Jeff and Allie Doggett. He married Elva E. Weeks on June 27, 1942. She was the love of his life until death they did part. They were devoted to one another for soon to be 70 years. He worked many years in apartment management. He never met a stranger and truly cared about everyone. He loved his children, grandchildren and his church family. He and his wife started attending Westworth Church of Christ in 1956 and remained faithful Christians at that congregation until his death. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
Survivors: Wife, Elva Doggett; daughter, Norma Cantwell and husband, Gene; son, Derwin Doggett and wife, Renee; son, Bill Doggett and wife, Jackie; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Alvin Doggett; and sister, Golda Burns.
