Otis Roscoe Karnes

Otis Roscoe Karnes, 86, died April 8th 2014, in Stephenville while surrounded by his family. Roscoe was born March 19, 1928 in Center City Texas, the only child of Louise and Z Karnes. Roscoe is survived by his four sons, Larry and his wife Marsha of Stephenville, Jack and his wife Beverly of Arlington, Danny and his wife Jana of Stephenville, Mark and his wife Anita of Ft Worth. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a dearly loved companion, Deana Phillips of Hamilton.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Wilma Jean (Williams) Karnes. Roscoe resided in Mills county in his early years until he was employed by Haliburton in Odessa from 1953 to 1962. Then Roscoe and family moved back to Hamilton County where he once again became a farmer/ rancher/grass contractor. His love of farming and ranching has allowed him to maintain land in Mills and Hamilton county where some land has remained in the Karnes family for over 120 years. Roscoe enjoyed going to sales/auctions where he was well known for obtaining merchandise/ equipment far beyond what he would eventually use. Roscoe was a lifelong Baptist who attended several churches in Hamilton and Mills County with his last membership at Center City Baptist Church.

Visitation was held at the Goldthwaite Funeral home on Thursday April, 10th from 6 to 8 pm.

Services were at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home on Friday, April 11, 2004.

Burial followed at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.

Otis married Wilma Jean Williams on 19 Apr 1947 in , Mills County, Texas. (Wilma Jean Williams was born on 10 Mar 1932, died on 22 Apr 2013 and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Hamilton County, Texas ².)
