Norma Maxine Geeslin
Laid to Rest April 18th

Norma Maxine Geeslin of Goldthwaite was laid to rest on Saturday, April 18, 2009, in the Mill County Cemetery following her death on Wednesday, April 15th. Pastor Pat Glazener-Cooney of the Goldthwaite United Methodist Church officiated the funeral services at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.

Maxine was born on May 29, 1918, in Center City, Texas to Hubert and Mable Geeslin. After attending Incarnate Word for a nursing degree, she worked as a nurse at Texas A&M University before serving in World War II as an Army Nurse in the Pacific from 1941-1945. Upon her return, she earned a masters degree in public health at Yale University. Maxine dedicated the rest of her career to the service of others in public health and nursing until she retired in 1980.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cleda Doggett and brother-in-law Lee Doggett, brother Glenn Geeslin and sister-in-law Geraldine Geeslin, and nephews Doug and Stanley Doggett. She is survived by sister Ada Margaret Hardcastle of Meridian, Texas, nieces Donna Lynn Benningfield, Phyllis Glickman, Suzanne Hardcastle, and Glenda Helms and nephews Paul Hardcastle and Tracy Hardcastle. Maxine also leaves 21 great nieces and nephews and 13 great great nieces and nephews.

To all of her nieces and nephews she was known simply as "Aunt Max." She enjoyed attending church, reading, gardening, caring for her beloved cats, and visiting with family and friends. To all who knew her Maxine was a strong, caring woman who loved God and her family.
