Mrs. B. M. Davis
Mary E. Davis was born in Grimes County, Texas, March 2, 1862. She died, after a long illness, on March 11, 1945, being 83 years of age. Her mother dying when she was born, she was reared by an Aunt in Falls County. There she was converted and joined the Methodist Church in early girlhood and lived a Christian life until the time of her death.

She was married to B. M. Davis December 10, 1883 at Marlin, Texas. To that union was born six children, all of whom survive. They are: J. M. Davis of Ranger, E. J. Davis of Mineral Wells, Jessie Davis of Izora, J. B. Davis of New Boston, Mrs. J. W. Casburn of Houston and Mrs. W. C. Higgins of Izora. There are twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Two grandsons are in service overseas.

She was buried at Center City March 13, beside her husband who died in 1922. Prior to that time the Davis family had lived in the Pleasant Grove and Center City communities. All of the children and one grand daughter, Mrs. Horace Seales and her family, were present at the funeral. Mrs. Davis was a sister-in-law of Mrs. J. T. Ovens of Center City, Mrs. Davis being Mrs. Owens's only brother. ²

Mamie married Benjamin M. Davis, son of James Madison Davis and Francis Breese Penick, on 10 Dec 1883. (Benjamin M. Davis was born on 8 Jul 1851 in Georgia, died on 22 Nov 1922 and was buried in Center City Cemetery, Center City, Mills County, Texas.)
