A. G. Langford was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ace langford, born August 3, 1877 at Evant, Texas and moved to Center City community when a boy. His parents families having been one of the original settlers of these sections they had the exercise of those powers which comes to few who knows of the dangers of frontier life. The Indians were much more plentiful than the whites when they came here, and they were exposed to perils often. They passed through many trying ordeals, but in them all mainted supremacy, showing strength of character, knowledge and fortitude rarely equalled.
Early in their settlement the family realized the values which lands in this section would some day command and they procured possession of vast estate in realty all of which is still held by different members of the family.
A. G. Langford and his wife, the former Lottie Carter of Center City, Texas, were married in 1913 and observed their thirty-third wedding anniversary October 23rd. The Langfords have two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Hollis Blackwell of Goldthwaite; Mrs. Bill Whittenburg of Lometa; Al Truman and Joe Shelby Langford of Goldthwaite. Two granddaughters and two grandsons: Peggy Jan and William Hollis Blackwell of Goldthwaite; Billy Ed and Rebecca Whittenburg of Lometa. Mr. Langford has one brother and one sister, Bill Langford and Mrs. Monroe Geeslin, Goldthwaite.
Mr. and Mrs. Langford lived in the Center City community until one year ago and since have resided in Goldthwaite.
Few men have taken a more active part in community and church affairs. He lived a full life, asking little and giving much. For him adventure and friendship were the zest of life. 4
