Gustaf immigrated to the US in 1894 and was naturalized in 1910. At the time of the 1920 census, he was a general farmer in Karnes County, Texas. He was still farming in Karnes County in 1930. He owned his home. His wife, Annie, was the informant on his death certificate.

GUSTAF A. JOHNSON the son of Frans and Charlotta Swenson in Nässjö, Småland, was born in 1878. He grew up in Nässjö and immigrated to America in 1894. For the first few years, he did farm work around Manor, after which he became a tenant farmer for four years in Williamson County. He moved to Kenedy in 1914 where he had bought land in 1910. He has cultivated it and built a farmhouse on it. He married Anna Blomberg from Manda in 1908. She is the daughter of John Blomberg, and was born in 1885. The children are: Delia, Mabel, Emma, Myrtle, and a son, Lambert. They are members of the Swedish Lutheran Church.
