  General Notes:

Swedes in Texas, page 307:
"SVEN AUG. ANDERSON, is one of the early Swedish immigrants who settled in Brushy and has made an important contribution to the establishment of this community.

"He was born in Jersnäs parish in Småland in 1844. His parents, Anders Peterson and his wife, Johanna Johannesdotter, were farmers. The son, Sven, grew up on the family farm, served as a farmhand, came to Östergötland and was a stableboy there, first at Bullsjö, and then at the Ed Manor. From there he immigrated to America in 1867 and came to Texas with the large group led by Mr. Heard, and he first came to Johannes Palm in Brushy. He got a job with Mr. Caldwell, but stayed there for only three days. He then served for Newlin for two years, was a cowboy for Andrew Nelson for three years, and got to drive his herds of cattle to Kansas. Anderson soon started to lease land. In 1880, he bought 100 acres and has later added to his property, so he now owns 640 acres of land. In 1877 he was married to Hedvig Kylberg. She was born on the Kynholmen Farm in Barkeryd parish, Småland, in 1854. Her parents were the tenant farmer and blacksmith, Jonas Kylberg, and his wife, Anna Elis Swenson. In 1870, they came to Texas with a small group of immigrants. Among them were Kristina Monson, Oscar Monson, Sofia Sjöberg, Anders Johan Sandberg, Aug. Nyman and Clara Larson. Mrs. Anderson first came to Daniel Heard where she worked to pay for her passage.

"Their marriage has been blessed with ten children who are all alive except one little boy. They are: Erik, born in 1878, Henning, 1880, Walfrid, 1882, Ellen, 1885, Theodore, 1888, Victor, 1890,Emil, 1892, Martin, 1895, and John, 1900. Theodor, Victor, Emil and Martin have enlisted in the Armed Forces in our war with Germany.

"The Anderson family belongs to the Lutheran Church in Palm Valley, and Anderson has served as a trustee of the congregation."

Immigrated to the USA in 1867 and became a naturalized citizen in 1875. According to the death certificate his parents were Anders Peter Anderson and Johanna Root. His wife was the informant. He was a farmer and land owner. 10
