Floyd D. Spradley, Jr.
Floyd D. Spradley, Jr., of Goldthwaite, Texas passed away Monday afternoon, January 18, 2016, at Scott & White Memorial Hospital. Floyd was born November 5, 1926, in Collin County, Texas. He was the son of F.D. Spradley, Sr., and Hettie Irene (Patterson) Spradley.

In 1944 Floyd married Curtis Jo Kelley in Gatesville, Texas. After multiple moves around the state working as an upholsterer, Floyd, Jo, Marj and Danny moved to Goldthwaite in 1953. Floyd was in the furniture and re-upholstery business until 1992 when he retired passing the upholstery business on to Tim who was born in 1958. After retirement, Floyd and Jo spent many years as volunteers in the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment, Campers on Mission, Hope for the Hungry, and lay renewals to churches all over Texas. Floyd loved to piddle and could fix anything that was broken. If there wasn't such a device, he invented his own. A loving father and grandfather who also enjoyed keeping the clock at Goldthwaite football and basketball games.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Stacy- Wilkins Funeral Home, Goldthwaite, Texas. Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Goldthwaite. Dan Conally and Pastor Stewart Farrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Chip Head, Jeffrey Head, Brad Bowden, Jimmy Spradley, Bobby Spradley, and David Spradley. Honorary pallbearers include Jennifer Bowden, Ashley Spradley and Bailey Spradley.

Survivors include his children Marj (Spradley) Haynes and Michael of Temple; Danny Spradley and Dianna of Belton; Tim Spradley and Tassie of Goldthwaite, 8 grandchildren: Chip Head and Michelle of Goldthwaite; Jeffrey Head of Goldthwaite; Jennifer (Head) Bowden and Brad of Palacios; Jimmy Spradley and Michelle of Midlothian; Bobby Spradley and Mindy of Temple; David Spradley and Stevie of Belton; Ashley Spradley of Goldthwaite; Bailey Spradley of Goldthwaite; and 14 great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment, 8025 FM 2125, Brownwood, TX 76801. Arrangements are being handled by Stacy- Wilkins Funeral Home, Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. ¹
