Otha Joseph "O.J." Sarver, Jr.

Otha Joseph "O.J." Sarver, Jr., 81, of Groves, Texas died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Mr. Sarver was born August 15, 1924 in Port Neches, Texas to Otha Joseph Sarver, Sr. and Octavine Ravey Sarver. He was a lifelong resident of Groves and Port Arthur area and was a member of Procter Baptist Church.

He was a retired Carpenter from Texaco with 37 years of service. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran having served in the European Theater as a motorcycle courier. He also helped escort the troops on D-Day.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Dr. Rick Erwin, pastor of Procter Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2006 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Sarver; son, Ronald Boyd Sarver; brothers, Roy James Sarver, and David Claude Sarver; sister, Lillian Guillory.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Esther Mizell of Bridge City; brother, Charles L. Sarver of Rosevine, TX; and grandchildren, Stacie Sarver, and Shane Sarver of Houston; and great granddaughter, Elizabeth Sarver of Houston; niece, Lynn Breaux of Port Neches. 1
