GOLDTHWAITE -- Funeral services for Melvin Pierce, 90, of Goldthwaite, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Burial will follow at the San Saba Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at the funeral home.
He died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 in Goldthwaite.
He was born Feb. 19, 1927 in Lometa to Charlie B. Pierce and Ada Sutton Pierce. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Ilene Pierce of Gonzalez, Melva Jean Pierce of Gonzalez, Nelda Ruth Larsen of Iowa, Traci LeAnne Dalton of Fort Worth, Ginger Deanne Green of Goldthwaite, Theresa Suzanne Burrell of Goldthwaite and Debra Joanne Williams of Goldthwaite; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and siblings, Charles Ray Pierce, Joe D. Pierce, Hazel Pafford and Evelyn Grooms.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Burl Pierce; a brother, Vernon Pierce; a sister, Betty Dickenson; and two grandchildren.

Melvin Pierce, 90, of Goldthwaite, passed way Jan. 22, 2018, in Goldthwaite.
Mr. Pierce was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Lometa, Texas, a son of Charlie B. and Ada Sutton Pierce. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He made his living as a driver for Ingram Concrete. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite. Butch Foster officiated.
Interment was in San Saba City Cemetery in San Saba, Texas.
Pallbearers included Jeremy Garcia, Scott Geeslin, David Williams, Jordan Tully, C. W. Green, Colton Green, Weston Hooker, and Lonnie Williams.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Ilene Pierce of Gonzalez, Melva Jean Pierce of Gonzalez, Theresa Suzanne Burrell of Goldthwaite, Debra Joanne Williams of Goldthwaite, Nelda Ruth Larsen in Iowa, Traci LeAnne Dalton of Fort Worth, and Ginger Deanne Green of Goldthwaite; his daughter -in-law, Gail Pierce in California; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his siblings, Charles Ray Pierce, Joe D. Pierce, Hazel Pafford, and Evelyn Grooms.
