John M. Clark, 88, of Cherokee, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 in Llano, Texas.
John was born on January 31, 1929 in Pleasant Valley, Texas to John M. Clark and Nora (Seay) Clark. He spent most of his life in sales. He was known as Doodle or the Jokester to most of his friends and family. John married Margie Carpenter Fry on August 25, 1984 in Bertram, Texas. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed a simple life in Cherokee with his family. He was known as Papa Doodle to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Margie L. Clark of Cherokee, Texas; 3 daughters: Carolyn Peterka of Burnet, Tx., Susan Long and husband, Billy, of Moulton, Texas and Gwyn Whited and husband, David, of Austin, Texas; 2 step-sons: Phillip Fry and wife, Nicki, of Cherokee, Texas and David Fry and wife, Brenda, of Cherokee, Texas; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren
He is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Cherokee Home for Children.
Doodle married Jonnie Mae Irby, daughter of John Alva Irby and Fannie Mae DeSpain, on 31 Jul 1948.1 (Jonnie Mae Irby was born on 10 Jul 1929 in Pickton, Hopkins County, Texas 2 and died on 29 Jul 2016 in Texas.)
