Kent Coleman Sons Sept 2, 1927--July 27, 2007
Kent Coleman Sons, 79, of Burnet died on Friday, July 27 at Seton Medical Center in Austin. Coleman, as he was known to most of his friends was born in Coleman on Sept 2, 1927 to J.B. Sons and Maudie Lewis Sons. He was raised near Brownfield and attended the Union School. He left high school to serve in the U.S. Army and later earned his GED. Coleman moved to Burnet in the late 1950's and worked for many years in the grocery business at the Adams Food Store and Super Save. He also worked at the original HEB and for many years, delivered for Meals on Wheels delivering meals to over 30 families, traveling 60 miles each day.
Coleman is survived by his wife Pat of Burnet; son and daughter-in-law, Guy Kend and Trish Sons of Lost Nations, Iowa; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Steve Weed of Tyler and Tyann and Tom Sandie of Des Moines, Iowa; sons and daughter-in-law James and Pam Jones of Flomington, Ala., Darroll and Marla Jones of Burnet; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Ray Soefje of Luling and daughter Christine Sons of Marble Falls; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends.
Funeral services for Coleman were held on July 31 at the Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet with Damon Hollingsworth officiating. Burial followed at the Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy foundation.
Arrangements were entrusted to Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
