  General Notes:

Arthur's father, Isaac Newton Scrivner, was born in Mississippi or Tennessee, his mother, Mary Elizabeth Berry, in Hopkins County, Texas. His father was murdered in the field at age 35 around Center City, Mills County. Never solved.

At the time of the 1910 census, he was renting his farm in Mills County, Texas. It was considered a general farm. When he registered for the WWI draft on 8 Sep 1918, he was farming in Mills County, Texas, for John Barker of Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas. His wife, Eva Lulu, was his nearest relative. He signed the card with an "x". At the time of the 1920 census, he was paying a mortgage to own his farm in Mills County, Texas.

Arthur Lee Scrivner, 70, Dies of a Heart Attack on Armistice Day
Arthur Lee Scrivner, a native of Mills County, died at his home in Goldthwaite at eleven o'clock last Saturday morning, Armistice Day, of a heart attack that was diagnosed by Dr. M. A. Childress as coronary thrombosis. Mr. Scrivner was 70 years of age last July 15.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 o'clock last Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite with the Rev. J. T. Ayers, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the cemetery at Center City with the arrangements by the Fairman-Wilkins Funeral Home of Goldthwaite.

Mr. Scrivner was born near North Bennett. He was a son of the late I. N. and Mary Elizabeth Scrivner, who were among the earliest settlers in Mills County. His mother was a Texan and his father had migrated to Texas from Illinois.

On April 9, 1903, Mr. Scrivner was married to Eva Miles at North Bennett. Mrs. Scrivner survives. Their children also survive. They are: Loyd Scrivner of Austin, C. N. "Dick" Scrivner of Goldthwaite, Hubert Scrivner of Blanket, Vola Scrivner of Albany, and Ila Mae Calder of Mullin. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

At the funeral, the pallbearers were Mr. Scrivner's nephews and the flower girls were his nieces.

Prior to his retirement and his establishment of residence in Goldthwaite, Mr. Scrivner had been a farmer.

The pallbearers for the funeral were: Arthur Wilcox, Raymond Wilcox, R. D. Scrivner, Earl Ellis, Sam Head and J. C. Miles.

The flower girls were: Alta Keating, Jessie Ruth Garner, Mary Lou Scrivner, Mrs. Aubrey Head, Mrs. Melton Miles and Janie Mae Miles. 7

The cause of her death was coronary occlusion due to atherosclerotic heart.4
