  General Notes:

The following account of him is given by Mrs. Carrie L. Call, Knightstown, Indiana. There is reason for doubting if he was a son of John Abraham but there seem to be several good reasons for thinking that he was. Abraham was listed second among the sons in the father Abraham's will.

In 1776 he enlisted in Berks Co., Pa., in 5th Penn. Regt., Continental Line, under Capt. Peter Dechart. Engaged in battle of Chestnut Hill. Taken prisoner at Fort Washington. Kept six weeks and released on parole. Name is on the tax lists of Heidelburg Twp., Berks County, in the years 1780-81-85. Listed as a weaver. He had a brother Jacob who was a hotel keeper in Pennsylvania. In 1818 he was living with his son Jacob in Augusta County, Virginia, with his wife and two daughters. The same year he applied for a pension at age of 64 years, which was allowed. He died 6 Jan 1833. In 1834 his son Jacob and family moved to Rush County, Indiana, where he bought a farm and spent the rest of his days.

1790 census lists for Abraham Brosius---1 male 16 yrs and over--3 males under 16 --3 females--Berks ,Co, Heiderberg, Twp.
