She lived most of her life in Garnavillo, Iowa. At the time of the 1930 census, the family was in Garnavillo, Clayton County, Iowa. They lived on her grandparents William F. and Elisa C. Moellering's farm. Arthur and his brother Roland H. were both shown as farm laborers along with 2 non relatives listed in the household. Her parents and paternal grandparents were Iowa born. One paternal great grandparent was from Holland, the other 3 where from Germany. Her maternal grandparents were from Germany.

Betty Louise Duwe, age 94, of Garnavillo, IA, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
She was born on May 31, 1923 in the Garnavillo Township, the daughter of Arthur and Lucille (Bandow) Moellering.
Betty received her education from the Garnavillo High School and later attended college as well. For many years, Betty worked for the United States Postal Service and retired after many years as Post Master.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, taking trips with her sister Jean and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Betty raised 3 children on her own and was a throat cancer survivor for over 40 years.
Betty is survived by her 3 children, George "Buddy" (Kathleen) Brosius Jr, Barbara (Lonnie) Aulwes & Bruce (Jody) Duwe; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; great grandson, Triston "Tadpole"; sister, Jean Reece; brothers, Art & Bobby Moellering; husbands, Lt. George E Brosius Sr., Morris F. Duwe.

Betty married George Ellery Brosius, son of John Herbert Brosius and Clara Margaret George, in Apr 1944.
