Gladys Viola Bates ^{1 2}

  General Notes:

I met Gladys thru a friend Carl Mikelson who wrote me about this girl he wanted me to met. I was just out of the navy and had come home to the ranch north of Rifle, She worked as a waitress at Adams cafe in Rifle and I dropped in to see her .I had almost forgotten about it when a week or so later I asked George Green to introduce me to the real pretty girl at the dance in Silt.
We met--danced all nite together --went steady and eventually married .
Gladys and I were opposites that attracted each other but we loved each other and raised our family in spite of the advice of our family Dr Dr E Dean Moore who told her not to have children as her heart was so bad that she probably wouldn't live to see 35 yrs old.
She belonged to the LDS church and I didn't even know what that was let alone know anything about religion. It only took her 25 yrs to teach me there was a spiritual side to things and I joined her in the faith and eventually took her to the temple being sealed to her for time and eternity. We fell madly in love a few yrs before her death and her death was a love tragedy for me. Her 4th heart surgery failed and my lover was taken from me but I have enough good memories to last a life time and 3 wonderful children to love me and for me to love them and their family's -------Will Brosius

Gladys married Herbert Willard Brosius, son of John Herbert Brosius and Clara Margaret George.
