Lou was the daughter of Samantha Jane Pearl and John A. "Jack" Chestnut. She was raised by Absalom R Brooks and her aunt Emily Pearl.

Letitia married Wiley Edward Green, son of Gustavus Edward Green and Rebecca Millison Fowler, on 25 Jan 1891. (Wiley Edward Green was born on 6 Sep 1868 in Texas,^{1 2} died on 21 Jan 1943 in Lampasas, Lampasas County, Texas ^{2 3} and was buried on 23 Jan 1943 in Tow, Llano County, Texas ².). The cause of his death was bronchogenic carcinoma of lung.
