Morton Joe Smith Sr

Morton's parents were N. T. Smith born in La Grange County, Texas and Ann Morton born in Tennessee. He was a stockman. At the time of the 1900 census, Morton was proprietor of a livery stable in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. He was newly married to Emmie. At the time of the 1930 census, he was shown as head of household of a hotel at 1206 Broadway, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.

Morton married Cora Lee Fowler, daughter of Josiah Fowler and Rebecca McCamey Yett. (Cora Lee Fowler was born on 23 Jun 1854 in , Burnet County, Texas and died in Belton, Bell County, Texas.)

Morton next married Emlea Bruce about 1900. (Emlea Bruce was born in Mar 1878 in Kentucky and died in 1974.)
