Benjamin married Sarah Jane Latham, daughter of William James Latham and Celia Hawkins, on 22 Jun 1876. (Sarah Jane Latham was born on 3 Dec 1859 in Missouri,² died on 2 Nov 1937 in , Burnet County, Texas ² and was buried on 3 Nov 1937 in Pecan Creek Cemetery, Llano County, Texas ^{2 3}.). The cause of her death was coronary thrombosis, carcinoma of left breast with carcinoma metastasis to lungs and vertebrae.
