Cause of his death was coronary occlusion due to arteriosclerosis.1
General Notes:
When Adolph registered for the WWI draft on 12 Sep 1918, he was working as a bookeeper for Lexington Supply Company in Lexington, Lee County, Texas. His wife Clara Augusta Obenhaus was his nearest relative. His son G.W. Obenhaus was the informant on the death certificate.
Obituary: Last rites for Rev. G.A. Obenhaus, 76, retired Lutheran minister were conducted in Olney from the St. Luke's Lutheran church with Rev. R.M Brandt officiating.
Rev. Obenhaus was an early day minister in the area, died Sunday morning of a heart attack while he was dressing to attend services at St. Luke Church.
Obenhaus had served as a minister for 50 years before retiring in 1951. His ministry began in 1901 when he was ordained and became one of the first pastors of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Wichita Falls. He moved to Olney in 1904 to become the first resident pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran church. Obenhaus prepared for the ministery at Concordia Seminary in Springfield, IL.
Rev. Obenhaus was married at Wichita Falls in 1902 to Miss Clara Ramming, daughter of a pioneer Wichita County farmer.
He pastored churches in Seymour, Illinois Bend, Lexington, Dime box, Anderson, Cisco, Clifton, Brownwood and Albany. While pastor at Albany, despite his advance years, Rev. Obenhaus and his wife made the 100 mile trip every Sunday from his home in Cisco to fill the pulpit.
Before coming to Anderson, he was a missionary for four years in Washington State. Mr. and Mrs. Obenhause moved to Olney to make their home with a daughter, Mrs. Conrad Kunkel.
Survivors - the widow; three daughters - Mr. Conrad Kunkel, Mrs. Loy Nichols and Mrs. Grady Collier of Fort Belyor, VA; three sons - R.A. Obenhaus of Austin, Rev. G.W. Obenhaus of Houston, Victor Obenhau of Williamstown, MA; three brothers - Otto and Vernon Frank of San Antonio; Harry Obenhaus of Electra.
