  General Notes:

He was a farmhand. He immigrated to the USA from Signesbo Snickaregård, Järsnäs on 23 May 1887.

From Swedes in Texas, page 827:

CARL A. ANDERSON, a carpenter and landowner in McCulloch County is from Jersnäs parish, the district of Jönköping, where he first saw the light of day in 1864. His father, Anders Anderson, was a carpenter by trade, and it was natural that the son learned and chose the same trade. He came to Texas as a young man in 1887. He first settled in New Sweden, Travis County. He continued in the trade he had learned in Sweden. He stayed in New Sweden for three years and then moved to Victoria, Texas, where he stayed for seven years. In 1897 he went back to Sweden for a visit to see his family and his homeland, a journey each and every "son and daughter of Mother Svea" in this country, should take if possible. After he returned he settled in New Sweden once more until 1908 when he moved to Melvin, McCulloch County in this community. He has lived there ever since and worked in his trade as carpenter.

Mr. Anderson was the first Swede to buy land in the community of Whiteland. He owns over 200 acres in this beautiful community, which he leases out, while he continues to work in his old trade. Mr. Anderson is single.
