Honored Sir
I embrace the opportunity of wrighting to you to let you know that we are all well. There is no sickness in the settlement that I know of. As for pastures they are tolerable good. The mast has entirely mist but the peaches is plenty and I think I will be ready for market by the time they are gone. You say you may be up next Saturday. We would like to see your face and eyes mighty good. Me and Sarah Ann was at the singing last Sunday. Miss Martha said I was mighty pretty but that you was a pretty again. I have nothing to wright that would interest you.

In the 1860 US census he was listed in the household of his brother James Blakely Head in Freestone County, Texas. He had $150 in personal assets. He was also listed in his father, Sampson Head's household that year.
